TRAINING: I train once a day, alternating between striking and submission wrestling and weightlifting. I am combining and drilling MMA techniques never before seen.
When and why did you start training for fighting? I began training after my older brother Jesse Marunde (RIP) convinced me to try cagefighting. He beat on me for years; it was time to put it to use.
What ranks and titles have you held? I recently won the Superior Cage Combat middleweight Title against Jay Silva.
Do you have any heroes? My hero growing up was my older brother Jesse, who died in 2007. He was 2nd in the MetRx World Strongest Man.
What does it mean for you to fight in STRIKEFORCE? I look forward to hearing the Strikeforce cage door lock shut. It means everything to me to be fighting a high level opponent for one of the world's largest MMA companies.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? I went to Washington State University and received my B.A. in History.
What was your job before you started fighting? I worked as an Account Executive for a gun manufacturer
Favorite grappling technique: Kimura
Favorite Striking technique: Body Shot
What do you consider to be the key fight in your career, and why? My first professional fight was an important win for me. It was in Atlantic City, NJ against a seasoned opponent with over 16 fights. I finished the fight with my favorite submission; the Kimura. A strong start is key in MMA.
