램지 니젬TRAINING: A typical day of training for me consists of drilling and sparring in the afternoon, jits at night, and conditioning at the end of the day. I mix it up pretty regularly. I'm working with a boxing coach, trying to improve my hands, a Muay Thai coach, conditioning coach and obviously John Hackleman and Jason Mertlich. I'm still relatively new to fighting so I'm trying to improve all aspects of my game. I'm not ready to just focus one thing for a fight; I need to be ready for anything.
Thoughts on opponent, CJ Keith? He's undefeated for a reason; he's obviously a very talented fighter. But I feel my strengths are his weaknesses and I'm going to exploit those holes in his game. He's tall and lanky so I'm going to have to get inside and take him down, and put him where I'm best and that's on top. I feel he also gasses in his fights, so I'm going to push the pace as I'm always in shape and ready for a war. When and why did you start training for fighting? I started about two years ago, after I was done wrestling in college. I started because I felt I wasn’t done competing yet. I still had the drive and love of competition in me and I needed to find an outlet. What ranks and titles have you held? I have been ranked in the world before, but nothing of any significance Do you have any heroes? Anyone who does what they love with passion and full heartily. If I meet some Joe Schmoe and they go after their dreams with everything inside of them, that is my hero. What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It means I'm one step closer to my ultimate goal. All the hard work and sacrifice has paid off and I get to pursue my dreams. Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? Utah Valley University in Orem, UT. Earned my degree in business marketing. What was your job before you started fighting? Security at a bar Specific accomplishments in amateur competition? Division 1 wrestler Favorite grappling technique: Back control Favorite Striking technique: Left Hook
