Where do you train? USA – Fiore MMA
What are your strengths as a fighter? I’m well rounded and I train in all areas.
Why do you think you’ve made it into The Smashes? Hard work and effort, especially over the past 12 months.
How / why did you start training in MMA? I was coming back from a soccer injury and it was a way to lose weight. I started doing Jiu-Jitsu and a bit of sparring to get back into shape and fell in love with the sport.
How long have you been training in MMA? 2.5 years
Why do you love MMA? It’s not a 9-5 job and it’s an outlet for testosterone and a way to lose myself, every day of the week. The other thing I love about this sport is it's not a team sport. Once you're in that cage it's just you and the other guy. It comes down to you being better than that guy on the day and that's the best thing about it. There are no excuses. You can't blame anyone else if something goes wrong.
Why do you think you will be the next Ultimate Fighter? Because of the time I have spent travelling and the people I have travelled and trained with. My experience was kind of fast-tracked as I’ve made MMA my focus and I have been living and training in the US so I have invested a lot of my own time and money into this.
I’ve made a lot of sacrifices over the last couple of years, pretty much cut all my friends out of my life so I can focus on my career as a fighter. I've got a few friends I still talk to. But I used to be in hospitality and bartend and basically I stopped partying, I stopped all other sport that I was doing just to focus 100 per cent on fighting and try and fast track myself to where I am today and it's paying off.
