When and why did you start training for fighting? I started training at 17, just for hobby and to have fun. With a year and a half of training, I entered the world of Muay Thai competitions and fell in love with the fight. At 19 I migrated to MMA.
What titles have you held? Shooto Brazil strawweight champion, LFA Strawweight Champion
Ranks in any martial arts styles: Muay Thai - Black Tip, more than 50 Muay Thai/kickboxing fights, beach boxing fights and no-gi competitions too
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It means reaching the top! But just fighting is not my goal in life; since I started, I always thought about the title, about being the owner of it and dominant in the category in which I belonged.
Who is your favorite fighter and why? I'm a big fan of Valentina Shevechenko, I love her fighting style and the discipline she has with life and training, it's an inspiration.
Do you have any heroes? My headcoach and husband, Douglas Bastos. He believed in me even when I didn't and made me see how big I am and where I can go. He is my foundation throughout my career.
What fight do you consider to be the key fight in your career? From past fights, I believe it was when I faced Brazil's top 1 at the time, and won an incredible victory. Of fights that are yet to come, I believe that facing Virna or champion Mackenzie would be a definitive turnaround because I really admire the grappling of the two and I believe we will have incredible fights to watch.
Is there a cause that you want to use your platform for? I would like to inspire all teenagers who think they have no potential, because potential exists within all of us, we just need to find it and have people with us to help us develop it.
Beyond money or a championship, what motivates you? To be a better person. For me, for everyone around me and especially for my younger sister, so that she knows that I'm always here and that she can get wherever she wants with discipline and determination.
What was your job before you started fighting? I was an attendant at a gas station
Favorite grappling technique: katagatame
Favorite Striking technique: High Kicks
Tell us about your life outside of fighting: I'm a very quiet person, different from how I get inside the octagon, I love reading, I love music, I play the guitar and I'm also a big fan of nature, so beaches and trails are constant things in my life. I am a strong, determined woman and that I am sure that there is already a belt with my name, at the right time I will just pick it up.
