When and why did you start training for fighting? 2011

What are your current ranks in martial arts? I’m a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Julien Williams. And I have my PHD in putting hands on people!

What fight do you consider to be the key fight in your career and why? My fight vs Ange Loosa I was on a two fight skid. Losing three fights in a row in the UFC usually ends in being cut. So I had that in the back of my mind. I was down two rounds then got a violent third round finish. Showing my grit and my heart. And most importantly grabbing that win.

Who is your favorite fighter and why? I would have to say Khabib Nurmagomedov mostly for his mindset , he’s like a modern day Muhammad Ali.

Do you have any heroes outside of fighting? Kobe Bryant was a huge inspiration for me as long as I could remember. He’s always been my favorite athlete. So much so I named my son after him (Coby Rowe) .

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It’s validation for my years of hard work and pushing through adversity.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? Daytona State College

What was your job before you started fighting? Well Logging Engineer (oil & gas industry)

Is there a cause that you want to use your platform for? My father always used to to pray over me as I child every morning when I left for school that I would “Let my light shine so others would see christ in me.” So absolutely sharing my faith with others. Being someone my kids will be proud of and look up to as the grow older.

Tell us about your life outside of fighting: I’m married with two kids my daughter Amaya and my son Coby. My wife’s a dentist and we’ve been together for 13 years. I like fashion, cars, and old school r&b, I make music in my spare time. My passion would have to be mentoring youth specifically in alternative schools.
