When and why did you start training for fighting? I started in Jiu-Jitsu very young at seven years old. I was taken by my father. My father is a black belt, my mother is a black belt and my brothers are black belts. I moved to MMA in 2014, and in 2015, I had my first MMA fight. I wanted to go to MMA because I always wanted to get the biggest achievements of my life, and from my first fight I always believed that I would make it to the biggest MMA event in the world. Even when I had a serious jaw injury and was having several people saying that I would not fight again, I proved the opposite so, for me, nothing else in this world terrifies me today. Only God knows what I suffered to be here.
What ranks and titles have you held? Invicta FC atomweight champion. I had many Jiu-Jitsu titles - I was Brazilian champion three times and I was world champion, and I also got a second place in the Long Beach Worlds
Do you have any heroes? Yes, all my family, my coaches and my followers who never gave up on me; to me, they are my heroes.
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? Fighting in the UFC is the reward of my life. I gave up everything to live this dream. I didn't have a social life, and my life is summarized as follows: from home to gym, from the gym to my home. I gave myself body and soul to this.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? Yes, I completed college in social work.
What was your job before you started fighting? I had a jiu-jitsu academy, and I taught and created a social project for children and teenagers. I closed the academy to focus only on MMA. I graduated, but I never wanted to practice my profession as a social worker; my love was always for fighting. I was always very competitive, I fought all the jiu-jitsu events, I went around the world fighting, and this is my true profession. It’s what I want for the rest of my life.
Specific accomplishments in amateur competition? In Jiu-Jitsu, I won the biggest titles - World and Brazilian of the IBJJF, CBJJ, CBJJE.
